At present, the commonly used ball mills in mineral processing plants include grid type ball mill, overflow type ball mill, wet long tube type ball mill and dry type ball mill, among which grid type and overflow type ball mill have energy-saving type and conventional type.

1. Grid type ball mill

Grid type ball mill is one of the commonly used grinding equipment in mineral processing plants. This equipment has a special grid plate design at the ore discharge area, which can force the ore discharge, and the ore slurry surface at the discharge port is low, the slurry passes through quickly, and the phenomenon of ore over-crushing is less. , The equipment is divided into two types: energy-saving models and conventional models.

Grid type ball mill
Energy-saving type: This ore ball mill is an energy-saving upgrade based on the conventional version. The processing capacity ranges from 0.17 to 170t/h, and the cylinder size can range from 1.2-3.6m. It can be equipped with hydraulic jacking with slow transmission device according to user needs. device and hydrostatic bearing device, etc.

Conventional type: This ball mill is the basic model of the lattice type, its processing capacity ranges from 0.17 to 180t/h, and the cylinder size ranges from 0.9 to 4.5m.

No matter which tube grid type ball mill does more coarse-grained grinding in the dressing plant, when the mineral particle size of the dressing plant requires a uniform coarse-grained product of about 48-65 mesh or when the first-stage grinding operation is heavy in the two-stage grinding operation , choose a grid-type ball mill.

2. Overflow ball mill

The difference between the overflow type ball mill and the grid type is that there is no grid plate at the ore discharge place, and when the ore slurry surface in the ball mill reaches the height of the lower end of the hollow journal, it will automatically overflow. The ball mill has a slow ore discharge speed and is prone to fruit crushing, so it is mostly used for grinding fine-grained materials. There are two kinds of energy-saving type and conventional type.

Overflow ball mill
Energy-saving type: the processing capacity range of energy-saving overflow ball mill is 0.17-160 t/h, and the cylinder size can be designed as 1.2-2.8m, and the energy-saving effect can be customized according to user needs and plant conditions.

Conventional type: This kind of overflow ball mill is the basic type, its processing capacity ranges from 0.17 to 170t/h, and the cylinder size can be designed from 0.9 to 4.5m, which can meet various large, medium and small mineral processing plants.

The two kinds of overflow ball mills are used in mineral processing plants, and the particle size of mineral products that can be processed is generally less than 0.2mm. They are often used in secondary grinding operations together with cyclones (cyclones).

3. Cone ball mill

The conical ball mill is also one of the commonly used grinding equipment in mineral processing plants. The difference from the above-mentioned ball mill is that this ball mill can be used for wet grinding or dry grinding. It has stronger adaptability and has strong advantages for water-shortage areas.

Cone ball mill
When the ball mill is working, it is rotated by the transmission mechanism, and the material is fed from the feeding end of the cylinder. In the cylinder, due to the impact and self-grinding of steel balls and ore itself, the material is crushed. As the material is continuously fed, its pressure promotes the material in the cylinder to move from the feeding end to the discharging end. The material that reaches the finished product size is discharged from the discharge end of the cylinder.

In addition, the cylinder of the conical ball mill is also different from other ball mills. The cylinder of the feeding and discharging parts exists in the form of a cone. This design can effectively improve the classification of materials and steel balls at the feed end. It not only increases the volume, but also forces the cone closer to the discharge port to make the diameter of the steel balls smaller, increasing the repeated grinding effect.

Similarly, the conical ball mill also has two types of grid type and overflow type, the difference is the same as above.

Conical grid type ball mill: The processing capacity of this mill is within 200t/d, and it is often used for grinding ore with coarse particle size in mineral processing plants.

Cone overflow type ball mill: It is different from the lattice type in the mineral processing plant. This type of ball mill is mostly used for fine grinding operations. The processing capacity range is also within 200t/d, and the input particle size is ≤25mm.

4. Long cylinder ball mill

Compared with other ball mills, the long-barreled ball mill has an overall longer barrel, which is much larger than the diameter of the barrel, and generally consists of two or more bins. The proportion of steel balls in each bin is evenly distributed, and the particle size of the mill is The requirements are different. From the feed bin to the tail bin, the ground material becomes finer and finer until it reaches the qualified particle size and is discharged from the ore discharge place.

Long cylinder ball mill
The long cylinder type ball mill is equipment for grinding in a wet environment. It can be used for grinding operations or other material grinding operations in relevant departments. The range of input particle size should be ≤25mm, and the range of output particle size should be between 0.075~0.4mm. The range is 3~29t/h. The ball mill can be widely used in various mineral grinding in mineral processing plants, and can also be used for grinding other materials in relevant industrial sectors.

5. Dry ball mill

Dry ball mills cannot perform wet treatment, and can only grind in a dry environment. In terms of design, the outlet of the dry ball mill is in the shape of a straight cylinder, and is equipped with devices such as blower, dust exhaust pipe and dust collector, intersecting with the wet ball mill, and the structure of the dry type is more complicated.

Dry ball mill

The ore discharge of the dry ball mill adopts the grate plate type grinding tail discharge method, which makes the discharge smoother and does not increase the grinding. During the working process, the cylinder does not need to be cooled.

Under normal circumstances, dry ball mills are only used in mineral processing plants where water resources are scarce, in arid areas or in water-saving considerations. In addition, it is to grind some minerals (such as cement, marble, etc.) that are prone to react with water.

The above types of ball mills can be customized according to the needs of users and the actual conditions of the plant (including transmission system, jacking device, feeding device, spray lubrication system for large and small ring gears, rolling bearings, overall frame, etc.), which can effectively reduce The total energy consumption of the ball mill.

At present, the commonly used ball mills in mineral processing plants include grid type ball mill, overflow type ball mill, wet long tube type ball mill and dry type ball mill, among which grid type and overflow type ball mill have energy-saving type and conventional type.
