In the processing of magnesium ore, the ball mill is the key fine grinding equipment, and its selection directly affects the production efficiency and energy consumption.For magnesium ore production lines with a daily processing capacity of 90 tons (90 tpd), factors such as ore hardness, feed particle size, product fineness requirements and process flow need to be considered comprehensively, and the ball mill model should be reasonably selected.

 

Generally speaking, the Mohs hardness of magnesium ore is about 5.5 to 6.5, which is a medium hardness ore.If the abrasive particle size is controlled below 20mm, and the target product fineness is -200 mesh, accounting for about 80%, it is recommended to choose Φ2.1×3.0m or Φ2.2×4.5m wet overflow ball mill.Among them, the Φ2.1×3.0m model (such as MQY2130) has an installed power of about 280kW and a processing capacity of about 80 to 100 tpd, which basically meets the needs of 90 tpd; if the subsequent process requires higher fineness or large ore fluctuations, it is recommended to choose a slightly larger model such as Φ2.2×4.5m (MQY2245), its processing capacity can reach 100 to 120 tpd, which is more stable in operation and leaves an appropriate margin.

In addition, high-efficiency grading equipment (such as spiral graders or hydrocyclones) should be equipped to form a closed-circuit cycle to improve the grinding efficiency.At the same time, priority is given to energy-saving ball mills that use rolling bearings instead of plain bearings, which can reduce power consumption by 10% to 15% and extend maintenance cycles.

 

In summary, for the 90 tpd magnesium mine project, the Φ2.1×3.0m wet overflow ball mill is an economical and reasonable choice; if you pursue higher reliability and extensibility, you can consider the Φ2.2×4.5m model.The final selection needs to be optimized in combination with the specific ore sample test data and the whole line process layout.
