The copper ore beneficiation ball mill is the core equipment in the grinding stage of copper ore processing. With the rotation of the cylinder, steel balls generate impact and grinding force to pulverize crushed ore, realizing the dissociation of copper minerals from gangue and providing favorable conditions for flotation and leaching. Wet closed-circuit grinding is dominantly adopted in copper ore beneficiation.
The equipment is mainly divided into grate-discharge and overflow types. The grate-discharge type features fast discharge and is mostly used for primary rough grinding, matching the SABC process of large porphyry copper mines. The overflow type can produce finer particles and is applied to secondary fine grinding and concentrate regrinding. Large mines have gradually adopted gearless direct drive technology, together with intelligent control systems such as automatic ball adding and online particle size monitoring to stabilize grinding performance and cut energy consumption. In production, proper grinding fineness is controlled by optimizing steel ball grading, grinding concentration and circulating load to reduce copper loss caused by sliming.
It is applicable to various copper resources, including sulfide copper ore, oxidized copper ore, as well as copper-molybdenum and copper-lead-zinc associated ores. It is most widely used in the flotation process of sulfide copper ore. Oxidized copper ore after grinding is sent for heap leaching and agitation leaching. For finely disseminated copper ore, concentrate regrinding is arranged to improve concentrate grade and recovery rate.
It covers a wide capacity range, suitable for small concentrators with a daily throughput of dozens of tons and large-scale copper mine production lines with an annual capacity of tens of millions of tons. It can also be used for mineral processing tests and copper concentrate powder processing. With strong adaptability to ore hardness and mature supporting processes, it is the most widely used grinding equipment in copper ore beneficiation.
