Dry ball milling is the core process for producing high-purity, ultra-fine quartz powder; selecting the appropriate ball mill model and operating parameters is crucial.
Regarding parameters, the feed particle size is typically controlled to below 25 mm. For ultra-fine grinding, the output fineness is a key indicator, generally ranging from 0.074 mm (approx. 200 mesh) to 0.89 mm; achieving finer output requires the use of high-efficiency classification equipment. The grinding media charge directly affects grinding efficiency and can range from 1.5 tons to several hundred tons, depending on the processing capacity.

The following two models are recommended based on different production requirements:
For small-to-medium-sized production lines, the Ф1500×4500 ball mill is recommended. This model features a shell rotation speed of approximately 27 rpm, a grinding media charge of about 11 tons, and a feed size of ≤25 mm; it offers an hourly output of 3–6 tons and a motor power of 110 kW. With its compact structure and stable operation, it is suitable for dry grinding applications requiring moderate fineness.
For large-scale production, the Ф2200×7500 ball mill is more suitable. It boasts a grinding media charge of up to 35 tons, an hourly output of 15–30 tons, and a motor power of 380 kW. This model offers high processing capacity and distinct advantages for continuous operation; the shell is constructed from highly wear-resistant materials, effectively minimizing iron contamination and ensuring the purity of the quartz powder.
