The Ø3.6×13m basalt ball mill is a large-scale industrial machine specifically designed for grinding high-hardness materials such as basalt. Its core operating principle involves a horizontal rotating cylindrical shell that uses centrifugal force to lift grinding media to a certain height before letting them fall, thereby exerting intense impact and grinding forces on the material.

Regarding technical specifications, the mill features a shell with a diameter of 3.6 meters and a length of 13 meters, representing a typical medium-to-long mill or tube mill configuration. Operational speed is generally maintained between 17 and 18 rpm to ensure optimal grinding efficiency. To withstand the highly abrasive nature of basalt, the mill's interior is divided into multiple compartments lined with highly wear-resistant alloy liners; the grinding media charge (steel ball filling) typically exceeds 100 tons. The drive system utilizes either a central drive or a peripheral gear drive configuration, powered by a high-capacity main motor and gearbox—with a total installed power ranging from 1800 kW to 2500 kW—to ensure stable operation and sufficient power delivery. Feed particle size requirements are ≤25 mm, while the discharge fineness is adjustable within the 0.074–0.4 mm range.

 

Additionally, the ball mill is equipped with comprehensive auxiliary systems. These include a slow-speed drive unit for startup and maintenance, as well as a circulating oil lubrication station to ensure the proper functioning of bearings and the gearbox. The lubrication station features high- and low-pressure oil supply systems, water-cooling units, and electric heaters to maintain oil temperature and pressure within safe operating limits. Given its substantial weight and the stringent requirements for foundation construction and installation precision, this equipment serves as a critical grinding component in modern building materials and metallurgical industries.
