Ball mills and spiral classifiers form a closed-loop grinding system, a classic combination for improving efficiency in mineral processing. Its core logic lies in the cyclical collaboration of "grinding" and "classification," ensuring uniform product particle size and optimal energy consumption.

During operation, raw ore first enters the ball mill cylinder. As the cylinder rotates, the internal steel balls impact and grind the material, gradually refining it. The ground slurry flows out from the discharge end and immediately enters the spiral classifier. Utilizing the difference in settling velocity of solid particles in a liquid, the spiral classifier divides the slurry into two parts: coarse particles settle to the bottom of the tank and are pushed to a higher position by the rotating spiral blades, returning to the ball mill feed inlet for further grinding; fine particles are discharged with the overflow and enter subsequent beneficiation operations.

This combination forms a strict closed-loop cycle. Timely return of coarse sand avoids over-grinding, reduces energy waste, and ensures that the particle size of the material entering the next process is qualified. The rotation speed and inclination angle of the spiral blades are adjustable, allowing flexible control of the classification particle size to adapt to different ore properties. Working in tandem, these two processes not only significantly improve the processing capacity of individual machines but also stabilize the quality indicators of the final product, making them a key technological configuration for achieving efficient and energy-saving production in modern mineral processing plants. Through this close collaboration, the production line can maintain optimal performance during continuous operation, maximizing resource utilization.
