In sand and gravel aggregate production, pebbles, due to their high hardness and strong wear resistance, require crushing equipment with high performance. To achieve a stable production capacity of 80 tons per hour, a crushing system with a robust structure, strong wear resistance, and a high degree of automation should be prioritized.

 

Typically, configurations meeting this capacity requirement utilize a two-stage "coarse crushing + fine crushing" process. For primary crushing, a jaw crusher can be used, with a feed size of over 300 millimeters and a single-unit processing capacity of approximately 100 tons/hour. The price of such equipment is generally between $25,000 and $40,000. For secondary crushing, a cone crusher is recommended, as its layered crushing principle is more suitable for medium-hard and harder materials, producing a uniform output particle size and effectively controlling the content of flaky and elongated particles. A cone crusher suitable for an 80-ton/hour production line costs approximately $45,000 to $70,000.

Pebble crusher

If space is limited or the budget is constrained, a high-performance impact crusher can be considered as an alternative. It offers strong one-time shaping capabilities and lower initial investment (approximately $30,000 to $50,000), but the hammer heads and liners wear out quickly.  When processing high-hardness pebbles, maintenance costs are higher, and the long-term economic efficiency is slightly inferior to that of cone crushers.

 

In summary, for a pebble crushing requirement of 80 tons per hour, while the jaw crusher + cone crusher combination has a higher initial investment, it offers a comprehensive advantage in terms of efficiency, finished product quality, and maintenance costs.
